Like most other things in my life, “Jiujitsu near me” in Google started a fantastic journey at Lightning Kicks.
I was overweight, struggled with self-esteem issues, and lacked the confidence to excel in my professional field. I was tired of being tired. Flipping through my list of podcasts, I came across a Joe Rogan episode where he was raving about jiujitsu. How it gives you superhuman powers and Rogan highly encouraged anyone to train. I decided to give it a shot.
Although it was super intimidating for me, I typed jiujitsu near me, or maybe it was BJJ near me ( I couldn’t spell jiujitsu at the time) in google. A few places popped up, but only one had a ton of 5-star reviews, they were in business for over 20 years and when I called them they were super helpful and kind; Lightning Kicks. I scheduled an appointment for a site visit. I was super nervous and didn’t think I even belonged in a martial art school with no background and being so out of shape.
Immediately after walking through their doors, I knew this was the place for me. Everyone was so kind, friendly, and genuinely happy and joyful to be there. It rubbed off on me and that was how my two-year journey in jiujitsu, BJJ, started. Now I can’t see myself ever stopping my Lightning Kicks training. I’ve lost a ton of weight, made friends with some super exciting and cool people, and I can walk with my head tall wherever I want because I know I can protect my family and myself.
I know walking into Lightning Kicks can be very intimidating, but I can assure you, it is so worth it. Making the choice to train at Lightning Kicks will be one of the best things you do for yourself in your life.
Get on the mat and get after it.
